Obituary of Joyce Morgan
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Joyce. Beloved wife of the late Ray (Reno) for 74 years. Cherished mom of Jo-Ann Egan (Patrick), Judi Holmes (Jeff), Janice Brennan (Jim), Jacqueline Morgan, and Ronald Morgan (John). Loving grandmother of Gregory (Alyssa), Ashley (Javier), Tara (Anthony), Kurtis (Lindsay), Kaitlyn, and Ryan (Taylor). Special great grandmother of Nico Ray, Isla, Jace, and Theodore. Daughter of the late Frank Sansom and the late Carrie White (née Ewan). Sister to the late Phyllis Cucksey, the late Betty Hamilton, and sister to many siblings from the White family. A loved Auntie to her many nieces and nephews.
In her younger years Joyce was a Bell Telephone operator, and she helped her husband Ray in the early years of their grocery and clothing business. She is best remembered, however, for her work as a stellar mother and housewife extraordinaire. She put all of her energy into running the house, supporting Ray and nurturing her kids; she chauffeured them to music, dance, swimming and ski lessons, and went the extra mile to make birthdays and holidays special for the family. She was particularly famous for her baking, and there was nothing like coming home to discover what was new and delicious in the cupboard. She loved music, and could dance a mean jitterbug with her husband right up into her late 80’s. Although her memories faded in her last years, she never forgot to say “I love you” and “I’m so proud of you” to her children and grandchildren, which was a gift we will never forget.
A special thank you to the staff of the F.J. Davey Home, particularly for the care and compassion from the nurses — notably Heather, Cheryl, and Ash — and the wonderful personal support workers in Birch 1, and to Dr. Apostle.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Joyce’s life at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
Some recent advice from Mom:
“Have fun. Laugh. Be happy. Do what you feel in your heart.”
