Obituary of Frederick Konkin

Fred passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Beloved husband, best friend and soulmate of Maggi (Sparling). Precious and devoted father and stepfather of Terry, Diane (late Rick), David, Kim Sanzosti (Tim) and Stephany Braido (late Chris).  Cherished Pa-K of Joshua Sanzosti (Erin), Chelsey Horricks (Mike), Dr. Maggie Braido, Olivia Braido and Brooke Bossio (Alex). Loving great grandfather of Luca, Carter, Benjamin and Liam. Adored godfather of Patty Poirier. Fred was raised in Kamsack, Saskatchewan by loving parents, Fred and Pauleen Konkin. Brother of the late Jack, Len and Elaine.

Fred served as a Justice of the Peace for the Province of Ontario and was the Treasurer for the City of Sault Ste. Marie for over 30 years.

The family is forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Extendicare Maple View Twin Lakes. Your love and compassion for Fred, as well for Maggi, will never be forgotten. Fred leaves behind a rich legacy as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and public servant.

A private family service will be held. Memorial donations to Maple View Residents Council or Emmanuel United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
