Obituary of Margaret Lucy Thompson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Peggy at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in her 93rd year. Dear wife of John, loving mother of John (Monique) and Margaret. Peggy will also be greatly missed by granddaughter Crystal Maskluk (Ryan). Predeceased by her parents Samuel and Margaret Currie, her sister Jean Peterson and brother Sam Currie.
Peggy was a strong woman who loved her family dearly. She excelled in sports, whether she was throwing a fast ball and striking someone out, making endless basketball hoops to lead a team to a championship, enjoying curling and golfing, or bowling with endless strikes. Through sports Peggy found lifelong friends with whom she had the best times of her life.
After raising her family, she returned to the workforce at Stones Office Supply where she renewed old friendships and made new ones. Peggy loved her 12 years at Stones and often spoke of those fond memories. She loved reading, music, especially jazz music and always took pride in her home.
We are beyond grateful for the extraordinary home care provided to Peggy by support worker Dawn and Bayshore nurses Donna-Rae and Jamie.
Thanks to Dr. Bondar and Dr. Buehner for their caring guidance. Our deepest thanks for the outstanding care and support received from the staff and volunteers of ARCH.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. To honour Peggy, memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated.
