Obituary of Jean MacKay

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother Jean at the Thessalon Hospital on Monday, February 12, 2024. Wife of the late Lyle for 62 years. She will be sadly missed by her three sons Wayne (Judy), Norman (late Jan) and Larry (Ferne). Nan and Great Nan as she loved to be called will always be remembered in the hearts of her 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as she loved to spoil them whenever she could. Predeceased by her parents Herman and Rose Grisdale. Sister of Patsy Goodmurphy (late Cecil) and Shirley Nolin (late Dennis). Mom has been waiting for the time that she would join her family of angels which included her mom, dad, her husband, her daughter Janice Reid, daughter-in-law Chris MacKay, brother Bobby Grisdale (Mable), sisters Arbelle Syncora (Benny), Betty Martin (Ronney), Jenny Richards (Emery), Yvonne Jeffreys (Jeff) and her six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law and their spouses. Mom was an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews who will always remember how she loved to feed them. She was just like a Mom to them as she spent lots of her time with all of them. Everyone will miss how she loved to have company and lots of food at the table any time anyone visited.

At Jean’s and her family’s request, a private family service has been held. Special thanks to the nurses and personal support workers of Tamarack and the entire staff of the Algoma Manor for their care and compassion during Mom’s stay. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
