Obituary of Marjorie Hutchinson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Marjorie, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Sault Area Hospital, after a sudden illness. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 61 years, John. Loving mother of Dan (Shari), Nancy (David) and Jeff (Marissa). Proud grandmother of Josh (Kate), Luke (Natalie), BJ (Maya), Meg (Jim), Nic (Dayna), Kaylie, Lauren, Mark (Robyn) and Alexandra and great grandmother of Wrenley, Kian, Harper, Brynn, Olive, Marley, Myles, Nathan and Avery. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and gave her endless happiness. Special Aunt of Tom (Becky) and Kevin (Lisa) and great aunt of Maeve, Ivan, Henry and Sam.

Born in New Toronto in 1936 to parents Ivory and Florestine Lytle, Marjorie was one of seven siblings: Ken (Lynne), late Joan (Leonard), late Louise (late Terry), Brian (Pat), Bruce (Sue) and Sharon (Ken).

Marjorie spent 35 years in the banking industry with CIBC at the Stouffville, Ontario branch in the town in which her and John raised their family. Many great friends were made during her time working and living in the community.

Marjorie spent her last years living in Sault Ste. Marie at the Pathways Retirement Community. Thank you to Laurie Eaton, Head of Care and all other staff who made our mother's stay here memorable.

Sault Ste Marie had a special place in the hearts of both Marjorie and John and it's here she made lasting friendships with Irene, Norma and Jim. Many enjoyable outings on Lake Superior and Marjorie attending Soo Greyhound games and family outings with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lastly, but most heartfelt, we wish to acknowledge Dr. Khot, Dr. Reich, Dr. Dopp and the nursing staff of Sault Area Hospital who showed our mother tremendous care, support and compassion in her time of need. We cannot thank you enough for all you have done.

At Marjorie’s request, no services will be held. Memorial donations to the SAH Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
