Obituary of James Presgrave
It is with profound sadness that we announce that with his wife by his side, Jim begrudgingly left for new hunting grounds on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH).
Devoted husband and best friend of Joanne Lynn for 42 years. Dedicated dad to Renata Lynn. Loving Papa of Mary (Adam) and Jessica Mason. Adored great Papa of Hailey, Lukus, and anxiously awaited Ava-Lynn. Best friend of Digger, who will miss their daily walks. He has been reunited with his parents, the late Ian and the late Biz Presgrave for a long awaited “cordial”.
Left with decades of fond and colourful memories are his brother and best friend Bill and sister-in-law Heather, his sisters Vicki Pine and Debi Reinholtz (late Manny). Much loved brother-in-law of Roger and Nancy Travaglini and the late Bobby Travaglini. His many nieces and nephews will carry on his legacy through the lifetime of love and lessons he instilled in them.
He was a proud member of Carpenters Local 2486 (formerly 446), his affinity for doing things “the right way” made him a respected leader and mentor to many apprentices. Jim was admired by all who worked for and with him.
Jim lived his life to the fullest. Never missing an opportunity to fish with his brother, nephews and friends, trolling on Negwazu and Dog Lake any chance he had. Trekking through the bush hunting moose or sitting in his tree stand waiting patiently for his monster buck. His experiences and adventures made him a storyteller, a conversationalist and a cherished friend to many.
The life he built with his wife and family on Heyden Lake was his greatest joy and heaven on earth to Jim. It will never be the same without his wave from the boat, the snowmachine or the driveway. We will remember him as we gather around our tables and bonfires with a drink to share stories, as he loved to do.
A special thank you to Dr. Nicole Apostle for your care, compassion and patience. Heartfelt thanks to our neighbour and friend Glenda Hubley for everything that you did for Jim. Paramed Nurse Sierra Grey, thank you for your dedication, care and for always brightening our day.
While Jim’s stay at ARCH was short, words can not adequately convey our appreciation for the staff who not only tended to his every need compassionately, but also to the needs of our family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Jim’s life will take place at the Machine Shop on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:30 p.m. Memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family.
