Obituary of Nicolaas Wester

Peacefully, in his 96th year, Nicolaas passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Sault Area Hospital. Loving husband of the late Johanna (Joyce) (nee Wittelaar). Cherished father of Marlies (Jody) of Cochrane, Alberta and Monique (Peter) of Sault Ste. Marie. Beloved Opa of Monroe and her favourite maker of Cream of Wheat. Special Opa of Nick (Olga) and Chris, and Groot Opa of Max and Oliver.

Born in 1928, in the Netherlands, Nicolaas emigrated to Canada in the 1950's and raised a family among his two brothers in southern Ontario. Remembered by his brother Pieter and sister-in-law Willy, and numerous nieces and nephews in the Netherlands and southern Ontario. Dad now is the time to dance, garden, go on long walks with the loved ones you will be reunited with, all the things that you weren't able to do lately.

Cremation has taken place. Interment and a celebration of life will be held in southern Ontario this summer. Memorial donations can be made in Nicolaas' honour to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Parkinson Foundation or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the care and support provided by the Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department.
