It is with a profound sense of loss that the family announces the passing of Roger on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 78.
Born in Lindsay, Ontario, on June 9, 1945, Roger is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Margaret Kinghorn, his older sister, Laurie McPhail, and his beloved wife of 48 years, Vaike Kinghorn. Roger is lovingly remembered by his daughter Elizabeth Kinghorn and son-in-law Mik Patton, his sister, Anne Wood, his brother and sister-in-law John and Grace Kinghorn, his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and his many friends.
Roger will be remembered as a brilliant and witty man with an incredible sense of humour, a devoted teacher (Sir James Dunn C&VS and Sault Collegiate), a generous volunteer within the community, and as an avid reader, music lover, and cross-country skier.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Miller officiating. Interment at St. Luke's columbarium will take place at a later date in the presence of immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the folks at the F. J. Davey home for their excellent care in Roger's final months.
