Annunziatina Fronzi

Obituary of Annunziatina Fronzi

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tita Fronzi at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at the age of 81. After spending 62 years together, she is reunited with her husband Benito. Daughter of the late Maria and Abramo Livi of Italy. Loving mother of Francesca Krancevich (Dan) and the late Vincenzo. Cherished Nonna of Niki, Rocky, Nicolas, and Alex. Sister of the late Luisa Perlini (late Agostino), Teodo Livi (Marta), late Piera Pedini (late Luciano) all of Italy. Sister-in-law of the late Gianni Fronzi (late Anna), Franco Fronzi (Elda) of Sault Ste. Marie, and Marta (Teodo), late Vanda (late Sergio), late Vincenzo and late Eugenio (Quartina) of Italy. Aunt of Barbara Bluhm (Matthew), Lisa Fronzi of Cambridge, Manuela Schell (Bob), Rita Taraborrelli (late Ed), Cathy Paciocco (John Paul) of Sault Ste. Marie and Roberto, Paolo, Lauretta, Paolo, Franco, Christina, Massimo and Ettore of Italy.

Tita was born in Montemaggiore al Metauro, a village located in the countryside of the Marche region of Italy. She followed her husband in 1966 after he settled in Sault Ste. Marie. Tita worked in a knitting factory while in Italy and as a cook at Ricardo’s on Queen Street and in the Station Mall after coming to Sault Ste. Marie.

Tita loved her grandchildren and always made time to care and spend quality time with them. She was an excellent cook and loved to throw a party with enough food to feed a neighborhood. She made sure no one left her home hungry. Tita hosted a party each year when the fava beans were ready for harvest. She would spend hours preparing crescia, an Italian flatbread, that went perfectly with the prosciutto her husband prepared. She was involved with St. Veronica’s church and her prayer group of ladies. She was a member of the Elettra Marconi Society and received the Anna Bernardi Memorial Award in 2003 for her outstanding service to the society. Tita loved traveling with this group of ladies to conventions and was the life of the party. She loved riding her bicycle all over town and after her mother passed you would often find Tita at the cemetery enjoying some quiet time with her mother. She and her husband spent a lot of time with her brother and sister-in-law, Franco and Elda. They would often share their afternoons enjoying each other’s company and sipping espresso late into the evening. She spent a wealth of time with her best friend, Anna Mariotti, who she met in 1967 after coming to Sault Ste. Marie. Their friendship rapidly grew into a lifelong bond. Tita became the godmother to her youngest daughter, Linda. She was recently reunited with Anna after moving to the Davey home. Although their time was cut short they were able to spend and cherish their time together.

A private service will be held with Mrs. Mary Alice Policicchio officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the SAH Foundation, Group Health Centre Trust Fund or the FJ Davey Home would be appreciated by the family.

A special thank you to the staff at the FJ Davey Home for their care and to Dr. Ladak and the nurses in the emergency department for their care and compassion.  Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
