Obituary of Rosemarie Sweeney
Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the age of 69. Peacefully at home, our lovely Mother has gone to rest with her husband, Ray Sweeney.
Loving mother of Shelly and Christie (Ken). Proud Gramma of Casey and Jodie. Great Gramma of Jordan. Stepmother of Lisa and Tricia Sweeney. Grandmother of Ray, Rachel, Christina and Elizabeth.
Daughter of the late John and Mabel (nee Syrette) Barry. Sister of Jack Barry, and the late Michael Barry. Special niece of Laura and Bill Louttit. Best friend and cousin of the late Sherry Loutitt and her goddaughter Lara Gallant. Best friend and sister-in-law of Mary McMinn (late Gary), Dan (Jane), Anna, Louise (late Bob), late Gloria, late John (Pat), Brian (Sue), and Mike. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mom was very proud to earn her Fish and Wildlife and Forestry Diploma at Sault College. She really enjoyed working outdoors, contract work with many companies, and having many companies reaching out to her to work. She also enjoyed working for Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and being a personal support worker.
Mom was most comfortable being outside and she always kept us safe and protected. She loved fishing, being in the boat, and she would always win the bets of catching the first, the biggest, and the most on the Oba River! She was the best fish cooker, and shore lunch maker, and we are always going to miss her homemade cooking and desserts.
During her last few years of having dementia, we would like to thank everybody that gave us courage and love. Special thank you to Auntie Mary, Auntie Laura, Laura Ann, Roseanne, Katherine, Angela and Anita for visits and gifts. Thank you to Batchewana Health, PSW Collette, Nurse Susan, Nurse, Ashley Ann, and Nurse Teresa for their upmost care and compassion.
Sacred fire has been lit for Mom’s journey at her home, all are welcome to come and send her with good prayers.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie would be appreciated.
