Obituary of Catherine Filice

Peacefully, surrounded by her family at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Eugene. Cherished mother of her two children, Jennifer McKay (Stuart) and Rob Coleman (Sasha). Proud grandmother of Charlie McKay and the late Sadie McKay. Daughter of the late Teresa Girardi (2014) and the late Joseph Sullivan (1960). Loved oldest sister of Deborah McGrew (Scott) and Diane Guzzo (Rick and the late Sal Mazzotta). Daughter-in-law of the late Settimio (Sam) and the late Ida Filice. Dear sister-in-law of Josie Pateman (Jim), John Filice (Brian), and the late Anna Pine (Reg). Godmother and Aunt of Trisha Shaheen (Omar) and Aunt of Tyler Mazzotta (Kara), Riley (David), Lauren Browne (Cam), Jared Crape, and Katie Pateman. Great aunt of Henry, Lily, Quinn, Cole, and Beau. Niece of the late Mary MacDonald (Hugh), late Bernard Fraser (late Helen), late Anna MacDonald (late Angus), late Irene MacMillan (late Cameron), late Donald Fraser, late Margaret MacDonald (Joseph), late James Fraser (Lillian), and Ron Fraser (late Toots). Kathy will also be missed by her many cousins and extended family from across several provinces.

Thank you to Dr. Michael Crump at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. Carrie Kuntz, Dr. Nicole Apostle, Dr. Sharpe, Dr. O’Brien, Dr. Dan Hill, Dr. Bishop, Dr. Fera, and the nurses in the emergency department, 3B and 3C at the Sault Area Hospital for the care and compassion.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests memorial donations be made to ARCH, whose team treated Kathy and her family with the utmost kindness and care during the last two days of her life.
