Obituary of Joe Doucette
With broken hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of Joe at home on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the age of 63. He leaves behind his adored wife and best friend of 40 years, Sharon (nee Therrien). Cherished step-father of Corinne Onovo (Chibuzo), Curtis Aikens (Rose) and Nicole Wood (William). Predeceased by his parents Alex and Joan Doucette and in-laws Claude and Shirley Therrien. Loving brother of Debbie Nicholas (Randy), Don Doucette (Jane), Denise Prpich (Brian) and Darlene Doucette. Brother-in-Law of Wade Therrien (Brenda) and the late Theresa Beauline (late Richard). He will be fondly remembered by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joe will be missed by his lifelong friend David Hart and his second mom, Theresa Dewar and Juanita.
Joe worked as a supervisor in many steel mills across Canada. He lived in Cambridge, Ontario for 30 years and only returned home to the Sault six years ago to be closer to family. His passions were cooking and entertaining. He enjoyed woodworking, creating unique pieces for the people he loved. He was a jack of all trades doing many odd jobs and only ever asking for a batch of cookies and a cup of tea in return. He was willing to do anything for anyone – even if it included bungee jumping!
Joe did everything BIG. Buying the largest teddy bear or rocking horse or making elaborate dinners. Most of all Joe loved BIG, especially his family.
Joe is now reunited with his fur babies Jake and Bear.
At Joe’s request a private family service has taken place. A Come & Go Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 183 Country Club Place on Thursday, July 18 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., where everyone is welcome to offer their condolences or share a story. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
Our sincerest and heartfelt thanks to the first responders for your care and compassion.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
