Obituary of Cpl. Kenneth Michael Poulton
Cpl. Kenneth Micheal Poulton passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes, at his home in Blind River on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the age of 61. Ken was a decorated veteran who served in Kostivo and Lahr, Germany and spent another 27 years in active duty.
Ken was born on February 14, 1963 in Elliot Lake, Ontario and was adopted by Bob and Peggy Poulton along with Kevin Poulton in 1967. When he was just 17, Ken decided he wanted to join the Canadian Armed Forces and started his training in Chilliwack, BC. After training he was posted to Petawawa, Ontario where he received his Airborn wings. Went 2CER Petawawa, 4CER Germany, 1CER Chilliwack/Edmonton, finishing in CBF Suffield as equipment operator for roads and grounds with some of his closest friends William Greenhough, Wayne Slocum, and so many others to list.
During his time in Germany, Ken met and fell for Hayley, who he soon married in 1989. Ken and Hayley chose to settle in the town of Richenback, Germany, until his posting back to Canada.
When he wasn’t working, Ken had a passion for hunting and fishing, and learning how to service and maintain weapons, learning more about Forestry and environmental causes, but most of all he loved to hunt.
Ken is now reunited with his mother Peggy Poulton and his grandson, William Poulton. Ken is survived by his father Bob Poulton. Loved father of Christopher Poulton (Melanie), Jennifer Targett and proud grandfather of Ariel and Brandon. Brother of Kevin Poulton and Uncle of Valincia Poulton. Cherished friend of Hayley Robertson.
Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. There was a private Soldiers Sendoff held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 (96 Great Northern Rd) from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
