Caroline Thomas

Obituary of Caroline Thomas

It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Carol at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, August 1, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her large and loving family.

Carol is survived by Ralph, her husband of forty-six years, as well as her four daughters Karen Thomas (Rob), Gail Kiss (Jim), Joanne Campbell (Dan), and Terri-Lynn Bruce, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She leaves behind two brothers Larry Schmor (Michelle) and John Schmor (Linda) and sister-in-law Irma Schmor. Carol is predeceased by her parents Clifford and Elizabeth Schmor as well as her brother Arthur. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Carol loved life and was very active in the community with involvement in various clubs and organizations.  She had a lengthy career in diagnostic imaging and was involved in bringing mammography to the area.  Carol loved to travel and always found time to read a good book or play an exciting game of cards. However, spending time with her family and her many friends brought her the most pleasure.  Carol was an inspiration and leader to her whole family and will be greatly missed by everyone.

At Carol’s request, there will be no funeral. A private family service has been held. Memorial donations to the SAH Foundation, ARCH or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Sault Area Hospital for the great care and compassion she was given during her stay. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
