Obituary of Laurie Alfano
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Laurie. After a courageous battle with cancer, she passed away at home, surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 51. Adored wife and best friend of Enzo for 24 years. Proud mother of Christian and Drew. Loved daughter of Nick and Paulette Porco. Special sister of Frank Porco (Jen) and Steve Porco (Trish). Dear daughter-in-law of Enzo and Mary Alfano. Sister-in-law of Debbie Gibbs (late Scott), Terri Felix (Chris), Danny Alfano (Faye), and Michael Alfano (Rebecca). She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and special fur-baby Baxter.
Laurie loved to spend her time with friends and family, especially at camp. With her infectious laugh, she lit up every room she was in. Laurie was a big inspiration to many, and her fight will never be forgotten.
Laurie began her career in 1998 as an Occupational Therapist at Sault Area Hospital, working in neurorehabilitation, acute care medicine, and the outpatient Hand Therapy Clinic until 2021. Laurie's positive attitude, genuine care for others, and infectious enthusiasm made her a beloved colleague and friend. Not only was it her job, it was her passion.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Father Charles Ngozi Abiamiri officiating.
