Obituary of Pamela Day

Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 94. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Arthur. Loved mom of Elaine Foster (Michael), Larry Day (Lucy) and Rosalinde Vanbiesbrouck (John). Precious Grammy of Mathew Foster (Jessie), Michelle Rose (Blake), Pamela Day (Graeme), Danielle Day (Andrej), late Phillip Day, Ian Vanbiesbrouck (Kristin), Ben Vanbiesbrouck (Chelsea), Nick Vanbiesbrouck (Lindsey) and Daniel Vanbiesbrouck. Loving Great Grammy of Lilla and Reid Foster and Wesley, Maddox, Vivienne, Leo, Elliot, Hannah and Micah Vanbiesbrouck. Predeceased by her parents Wallace and Rhoda Stephenson. Dear sister of the late Diane Payne. Sister-in-law of the late Eileen Jackson (Jack) and the late Joan Green (Arthur). Cherished aunt of Gary Payne and the late Andrea Payne. Dear cousin of Carole Mann and Nicky Guthrie. Special niece of the late Gordon and the late Eve Mann who were instrumental in Pamela and Arthur moving to Canada. She will be missed by her dear friend Sara Vanbiesbrouck.

After moving to Canada in 1958 with Arthur and then living in three different cities, they settled in the Sault in 1963. Pamela soon found fellowship and friends at St. Luke's Cathedral. The friends she made through Rotary and May Court and her time involved with these organizations were very special. Pamela cherished her neighbourhood friendships, the Friday Night gang, boating and travelling adventures with friends…the list goes on and on. Pamela loved being with friends! She also enjoyed her garden, especially her roses and runner beans, and she loved her animals, no matter how much pet hair she had to vacuum. Family gatherings were her absolute favourite. No matter how big or small, there was always a reason for gathering. She had so much love for her family, her favourite being when her house was jam packed with everyone all together. Our mom was a solid “behind the scenes” supporter for our dad and the staff of Dawson & Keenan Insurance.

We would like to say thank you to the staff at Collegiate Heights who were so compassionate during the Covid lockdown. The Maple View staff were simply amazing, providing such knowledgeable care and showing true compassion over the last couple of weeks. We thank you so much. Our family is very grateful to and so thankful for Nancy Froy who was our mom’s constant and compassionate companion for almost two years.
