Obituary of Edward William Fletcher

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of William, affectionately known as Billy Two Feathers, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on December 6, 1941, Billy lived a life rich with love, dedication, and service to his family, community, and country.

 

Billy was a Shingwauk residential school survivor, he was there for 9 years. He proudly served as a veteran in the Royal Canadian Navy, embodying courage and commitment throughout his years of service. After his time in the Navy, he built a distinguished career as a skilled Ironworker Local 786, leaving behind lasting contributions to the infrastructure of his community. His strength, dedication, and work ethic were admired by all who knew him.

 

As a respected elder, Billy held a deep connection to his heritage, sharing stories and wisdom that will be passed down through generations. His love for nature, generosity, and infectious sense of humor touched the lives of many.

 

He is predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Mary Fletcher, and his siblings Florence, Fred, John, Arnold, Stanley, Fran, and Alice. Billy is survived by his loving sisters, Shirley, Jackie, June and children Warren, Barbara and Edward, nine grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.

 

A celebration of Billy’s life will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at the Missanabie Cree Band Office (606 Queen Street East) where family and friends will gather to honor his extraordinary life and legacy.

 

Rest in peace Billy Two Feathers. Your strength, kindness, and wisdom will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
