Terry Rowlinson

Obituary of Terry Michael Rowlinson

Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 73. Born on November 8, 1950, throughout his life he enriched the lives of those around him and brought them much joy and laughter. Terry will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Erin Rowlinson (Mike Coulam); son, Chris Rowlinson (Josh McGill); grandsons Keiran and Benjamin Coulam; sister, Harlean Stocker (Rowlinson); and sister-in-law, Sheila Rowlinson as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Rexford Rowlinson; mother, Una Rowlinson (May); and brother, Denny Rowlinson.

Terry's compassion and dedication were evidenced by his choice to be a teacher for students with special needs. He frequently went the extra mile to bring joy to his students in big and little ways. From using unconventional ways to get the rest of the school staff into the Christmas spirit to organizing a very memorable trip to Florida for his class. One of the other ways Terry will be remembered is for his love of chess. He enriched many young lives by organizing many scholastic chess clubs and tournaments.

Terry spent many happy summers camping with his family, especially in Northern Michigan where he embraced his love of rocks and photography. This is encouraged and inspired his children to follow in his footsteps. His love of animals made for a rich but often noisy and chaotic home. Although he had many dogs and cats in his life, the most recent dogs Milly and Pippa were very special and will miss him greatly.

Family and friends are invited to a Come & Go Celebration of Terry’s life in the Lower Lounge at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Sault Ste. Marie & District SPCA (Humane Society), supporting a cause close to Terry's heart, or the charity of your choice. Terry's life was a reflection of his values, kindness, dedication, and a deep love for both people and animals. His memory will continue to inspire and resonate with all who knew him. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
