Obituary of Ronald St. Denis
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Ronnie on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Sault Ste. Marie at the age of 89 years.
Devoted husband of Fern for 68 years. Beloved father of Kim St. Denis-Hykel (Peter). Cherished Papa of Justin Hykel (Tianna) and Kaitlin Hykel (Nathan) and adoring Great-Papa of Sydney. Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Elsie St. Denis. Survived by his brother-in-law Brian Badelt (Joanne), and his sisters-in-law Lynne Shand (Dave) and Wendy Gibson (Ron). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Brad, Amanda, Brian Jr., Randi, Ryan, Riley, and Darcie. Predeceased by his sisters Leona Behrens (Thomas), Lauretta Steves (Doug), Joyce Diboll (Llyod), Barbara Lajoie (Roland). He is survived by his sister Sandra Dore (Vic) along with his numerous nieces and nephews within the St. Denis family.
Ronnie was a lover of all animals and especially passionate about horses, which started as a teenager. Together with Fern and Kim, he built the family horse farm, S.D. Acres, and was able to share his passions with the local equestrian community. He accomplished all this while working at Algoma Steel for 42 years in the Open Hearth and as a BOSP Crane Operator. After retirement, he continued to maintain the farm and could be found most mornings on his tractor followed by a visit to the coffee shop.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Interment at West Korah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH would be greatly appreciated.
