Obituary of Robert Charles Boston
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Robert at the FJ Davey Home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 with his daughter Norma and son-in-law John by his side, just a month short of his 94th birthday. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Betty (2023). Cherished father of Norma Green (John), Murray Boston (Valerie) and the late David Charles Boston. Proud Papa of Cameron Green, Michael Boston (Kaley) and Melissa Filippatou (Spiros) and Great Papa of Elisavet. Brother of Arlene McMaster and predeceased by Ray Boston and Ken Boston.
His daughter Norma visited him often, and always supplied him with his favourite treat, Chocolate. Dad suffered from dementia for some time but exhibited some moments of clarity recently. After a couple of Covid interruptions, and flight changes his son, Murray was able to visit and see the man who shaped, and silently guided his life one last time in November 2023. Dad was a quiet, strong man and we hope we can emulate his strength and perseverance. Our family is forever grateful to Norma for making our parents last few years as comfortable as possible.
Dad worked for Dominion Steel many years ago where he met his wife, Betty. Later on, he moved onto the PUC and worked in their planning department. We were always amazed that dad could recall every street and electrical infrastructure item in the city during his time there. Together with the help of his brothers Ray and Ken, dad built the first home we grew up in on Killarney Road.
A private family service will be held. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, the Parkinsons Society of Canada or the FJ Davey Home would be greatly appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to Birch Lane 3 at the FJ Davey Home for the care and compassion given to our dad. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
Dad, there’s a line from one of my favourite songs of Van Morrisons, it says,
“Let your Spirit and Soul sail into the Mystic”
