Bernie and family, I am so sorry for the heartbreaking loss of Liz. I always enjoyed our conversations, usually at Marchildon family events. A sincere, friendly, easy person to spend time with. My sincere sympathies and sending healing energy as you navigate the journey forward without her by your side. Be sure to take care of yourself my cousin and lean on others as you need to.

My deepest condolences to the Garcea and Marchildon families. Though I only worked with Liz for a year or so, our bond was instant and our friendship remained special for 20 years. I appreciated her humour, her kindness, her steadfast commitment to doing the right thing. These came easy for Liz, a woman of strong character. Our chats often were punctuated with winks and nods (we got each other without words) and often we ended with ‘that’s for another conversation’. Her ‘oven baked risotto’ helped me look like I knew what I was doing - it’s a staple in our home, one I will teach my kids and we often refer to as ‘Liz’s risotto’. My friend, I am grateful for the blessing of knowing you. Rest in eternal peace.

I am the sister of Liz's mother-in-law Joan Marchildon . It is heart-warming to read all the tributes from the people Liz worked with.
I knew Liz for many years visiting the Marchildon family in Kingston, and she was always a quiet presence within the many family holidays. I want to give my deepest condolences to Liz's family, friends and co-workers. She is deeply missed.

Liz was a fantastic, unpretentious, fun and very funny sister-in-law who added immeasurable depth to our family. She brought out the very best in brother Bernie and co-piloted an exemplary partnership with committed, steady love... She graciously tolerated Bernie's imaginary friends (Shauna the Shadow and Eddie the Edge) and was a fiercely protective mamma bear - I toned down my nicknames for my bro - so she improved me a bit as well.
Liz was a voracious reader, and over the years gave me some of the best book recommendations - we once shook our heads in sorrow together at Lily Bart's downfall - so I'll be in touch with TPL in her name.
Condolences and hugs all round to those feeling this incalculable loss, but also a sense of joy at having shared some of life with the inestimable Liz.

I had the honor of knowing Liz for many years as we working for the same Agency. In the last year, I was fortunate enough to have Liz as one of the managers in my group and as a result I was able to get to know her even better during that time.
I can say without reservation that Liz was a absolute pleasure to work with. She was committed to her work and to the people she managed. She had a kind and compassionate heart even when we were sorting through the most difficult issues. Above all, she always had a smile that lightened the most difficult of situations.
Liz was a friend to everyone that knew her and she never had a negative word to say about anyone. Her sudden passing will leave a huge hole in our office and while it is difficult for us, who call her our friend and colleague, I can only imagine how difficult her passing must be for her family.
My sincere condolences to Bernie and to everyone in Liz’s family. May your loving memories of her give you strength during this difficult time.
We continue to keep you and Liz in our prayers.

Liz, I am truly saddened by this unexpected loss, you are greatly missed. Your super power was seeing the best in everyone and everything, with the kindest heart. You were a light in this world that we all needed, and your light was dimmed way too soon. I hope you’re flying high and having a giant bowl of your favourite vegetable soup every single day. I am making a pot in your honour this week.

My heartfelt condolences to Bernie and the entire family. I am deeply saddened to hear of Liz’s passing. She was a kind, compassionate, and genuine person who brought warmth and wisdom to everyone around her. Liz was such an integral part of the CBSA family, and I had the privilege of calling her not only a coworker for the past 18 years but also a trusted, long time friend.
There are so many places in and around the GTA that will always remind me of the time I spent with Liz. I cherished every moment with her, from our shopping at STC especially at Tommy to our movie outings, and our morning and lunch chats about everything from TV shows to cooking and meal planning. Liz was an amazing cook, and I’ll always be grateful for the many recipes she shared with me, guiding me step by step to improve my own cooking and encouraging healthier eating.
Liz was also a great listener, always there for me as I shared my stories. When she disagreed with something, she would call me out in her own gentle way, saying “Cynthia”! Her presence and her friendship meant the world to me.
Wishing you all strength, peace and comfort during this difficult time. May Liz’s memory be a blessing. Elizabeth, you will always hold a special place in my heart.

My deepest condolences to Bernie and the Family. Liz was a wonderful person who I had the honor of working with for over 20 years. We worked together in border and in trade. She was highly respected by all, for her dedication and knowledge. She put herself in danger for others, fearlessly doing an exam of a container in a hazmat suit to uncover narcotics. Liz was also a wonderful friend and colleague and her opinion, I valued more than any other's. I don't ever remember Liz ever getting angry or having a harsh word against anyone. She was also very humble. I remember the client service team went out for a bowling night and little did we know that she was a talented bowler. She beat us all but was humble about it. Instead of celebrating her win she offered those who asked her tips on how improve our game. When we nominated her for the Director General's award she didn't want the accolades, even though she truly deserved the honor and was ultimately awarded it. Liz was a very special person who will be greatly missed by all.
For me I will miss her greeting, "Hi JK, How are you doing?"
I will miss you Liz! I hope that you are soaring with the angels right now!

Bernie and Family -
Liz was such a loving, kind and generous soul. I will forever miss our daily chats about life and travel and all the great things that she loved to cook. She was always there for all of us and always had an ear to listen to support anyone who visited her by the window. She was such a huge part of our Scarborough CBSA family through the compassion she showed us daily. She will be forever remembered for her goodwill and kindness. We will miss her laugh, her passion and her delicious cheesecake bites.
Rest in peace Liz, your memories will always stay with us in our hearts - your friend Mina
