Dearest Family - our hearts go with you in this great loss but we can't help but rejoice that God granted her desire to spend this birthday with her beloved Louie in heaven. Just think she probably left early on Sat. so she could personally decorate his room this year for the celebration. May warm memories of her surround you and console you . My heart is heavy today- we have lost a wonderful friend & matriarch in Emma Carricato. My sincere condolences to Ella,Robert, Patrick,Louise, Anita & spouses for your loss. Emma was like a surrogate mom to me, especially in the early 60s when I arrived in the Sault to begin my teaching career. It was somewhat overwhelming to me to be living away from my family, in a strange city, with little( if any) social life.But Emma & her family made me feel right at home inviting me to dinner several times each month, partaking in the family life of the Carricatos.Her generosity, love, & kindness helped me immensely in adjusting to my new life & surroundings.I was a part of this loving family & got to share in the dynamics of their life.
Emma,we will miss you very much but are consoled by knowing you are now in the arms of the Lord. May your soul rest in peace!

Anna and I were saddened to hear of the loss of your precious mother; we have very fond memories of her reaching out to the early Italian immigrants helping them overcome their struggles especially the language barrier. My late parents spoke so respectfully and appreciative of her. Dear family Carricato: It is hard to believe that it has been 32 years since I phoned Emma and Louis Carricatto out of the blue one snowy January evening to seek lodgings at their home during my work term. I only spent 4 months in the Sault, but the hospitality your family showed me has made memories of that winter last on all these years.
