Jim was truly a renaissance man, with a multiplicity of talents. For some 50 years he persevered, as a labour of love, with in the construction of the International Bridge, and then with the Bridge Plaza. And he did so with dignity, ethics and proper composure. The City of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario owes this great Canadian a debt of gratitude.

Dear family of Mayor Jim, I first remember your Mom and Dad when I was a kid, the same age as Patrick, because we lived on Findlay Street just two houses apart. A long time has past and here I am on City Council looking up to Mayor Jim McIntyre. I have held your Dad in the highest regard as "one who has gone before". He was instrumental in handing to subsequent Mayors and Councils, the City we have today. Mayor Jim was a true Community Builder. It was a privilege to see him honoured during our 2012 Celebrate 100 events, especially the 50th anniversary of the Bridge; that was a special day, seeing him receive well deserved recognition for then, 50 years of dedicated and invaluable contribution. I cherish the few times we were able to ride together and have a bit of conversation. He would always leave me with a nugget of thought about a current City event. I admired him and will miss his quiet and calming presence "about town". May the Lord bless and comfort you all in your loss of this wonderful man; thank you for sharing him. Susan Myers, City Councillor Ward 2.

Jim was an imposing figure in the early days of my becoming a news reporter. His gift to all with whom he had served, was to quietly inspire thoughtful deliberation, and to make reasoned decisions, from rational dialogue. Jim respected our local media, and was always accomodating. His personality, was such, that if it was business...he was all business. If it was social ,he was one of the warmest .among those fortunate to be in his company. He will be long remembered,as one who served our community, and served it well! His years of mentorship, is a precious gift to our community.May he now rest in peace.
