Obituary of James McIntyre

McIntyre, James Unexpectedly, on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He is now reunited with his loving wife Mary. Cherished father of Paul (Dominique), late Patrick, Mary Anne Wilson (Laurie), Catherine Gregory (Steven), Sheila Vendramin (Mark) and Nora Zahn (Greg). Devoted grandfather of Tarryn, Lauren (Paul), Meghan, Shani, Luke, Stephanie, Kristen, Siobhan, Paul, Cauleen, Eric, Ryan, Zoé, Sophie and Matthew. Great grandfather of Sawyer. Son of the late Mary and Lloyd McIntyre. Brother of Clara and Vincent, and the late Joseph, Leo and Patricia. As well as a career in management at Trans Canada Airlines and The Algoma Steel Corporation, James served the community in many roles as public servant, community leader and volunteer. He was Mayor of Sault Ste. Marie from 1960-1964. He served as Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of Police, the Board of the Sault General Hospital and the District Health Council. At the time of his death, he was Chair of the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority, having served on the Board for over fifty years. James also served on provincial and federal task forces, and was a recipient of the City of Sault Ste. Marie Medal of Merit. James will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
