I feel honoured to have considered Mary as my friend. I knew her as Mary, not Ida. We met in 2009, when we were travelling together to Sudbury for radiation treatment for our cancers. It may seem strange, but we had such fun there, and we became friends. There were 5 of us who travelled together. I think we bonded on one particular trip – Mary said that she was a very nervous passenger. But didn’t even seem to blink when one terrifying driver was so busy talking, that he didn’t seem to be watching the road. When we finally arrived safely in Sudbury, and I mentioned how terrified I’d been, she breathed a sigh of relief that she hadn't over-reacted - and we were friends. Mary and I kept in touch – she would send me jokes. And occasionally we would check up on each other. I think we lost touch about 3 years ago, when one of our emails got hacked. Am so sorry that she is gone now. My sincere condolences to the family.
