I feel saddened to hear of Sam's passing. Our family enjoyed his presence through years past, when he would do such a fine job of papering or painting at our Lansdowne Ave. home. He was so kind hearted and took time to chat to us curious kids who would watch him work, and welcome his treat of a piece of gum! Until not long ago, my parents and any of us who were home with them over Christmas, would enjoy Sam's annual visit usually a day or so before the 25th, when he offered a bottle of his red wine. Mom would always have a jar of her crystal clear red currant jelly, ready to offer Sam. Three years ago, when home in the Soo around this time, I looked up Sam and Jennie, after my parents had both passed away, as I not only wanted to take them a jar of homemade jam, (as Mom's ambassador), but to let Sam know how important a person he was for our family over the years. He was one of those gentle and sensitive people who leave their mark, whose smile will always be with us. Goodbye Sam. I will miss you. fondly, Peg Robertson

My brother and sister in law (John and Linda Robertson) informed me of Sam's passing. Sam touched lives in mysterious ways and always brought a kind word word of encouragement when he spoke. As a child, I remember him coming to our house on Lansdowne to work. I always thought that every house had a Sam The Man, that would come and help out. He would take time to engage us and if we were good little boys, he would give us a piece of Beechmen gum. This larger than life man always had a kind work for myself as a child. As I grew, Sam returned to our family home every Christmas and would bring a bottle of his famous red wine. Mom and Dad (Ruby and Bill Robertson) would greet him at the door and invite him in for a visit. He would thank Dad for helping to bring another child into the world. Sam would speak of his childrens victories in life and tell of what they were doing. Those times that I happened to be home with my wife and children, he would take great pleasure in meeting my children and hearing of their victories as well. Sam had a way of dealing with people that made them feel comfortable and important. He always had time for me a child and he had an impact on me, Our meetings and time together was mimimal. For those that he spent his life with I can only speculate that this larger than life man with a great big heart, must have had a HUGE effect on. I would like to extend our condolences to all of your family at this time. He is in my thoughts. I tip a glass of red wine as I write this message. I know that his is with you all today and forever. Respectfully. Don and Kathy Robertson lanark, Ontario

I am presently in Florida but I am deeply saddened by the announcement of Sam's passing.
I had the honor and privelege to have been a Basketball Referee when many of the Colizza family played.
Sam was always at the games cheering for his family.
I had the honor of talking with Sam and telling him what beautiful people his children had become. He was very proud of all of them.
I have been richly blessed by meeting Sam and his wife and family.
The whole Colizza family has been a part of making Sault Ste. Marie such a wonderful place to live.
I know that Sam will rest peacefully in Heaven and receive the rewards that he so richly earned on Earth.
I will always be proud to read and/or hear about another Colizza carrying on the Legacy that Sam started.
Only once in a lifetime does someone like myself get to know such a man as Sam and his wife and Family.
I also know that Sam will always be watching us and we will be much better people for having known him.
May God continue to bless the Colizza family and I know that this is the only reward that Sam ever looked for---to raise his children the way that Christ would have him do.
May God continue to be a part of the Colizza Family.
Don Edwards

Dear Jennie and family, We were saddened to hear of Sam`s sudden death. He was truly a man for all people. I have very vivid memories of growing up in "The West End" and many fond memories of Sam. He and Jennie "jitterbugging" at weddings.[ also at times with Johnny Arcangeletti and Enzo Rossi]. Painting my mothers house for nothing when my father was in the hospital and we were too poor to pay him.He was a mentor to me during my 12 yrs. as a Trustee on the Separate school board. His wonderful family can be proud to call him husband and father. It is our privilege to have known him. We are presently in Florida and unfortunately will not be able to attend the funeral services. Please accept our condolences. We will remember you in our prayers. Janet and Nilo Fabbro

To the entire Colizza family, we wish to extend our sincere condolences ... We feel your pain and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of great loss ... If you will permit me to share the following ... Only a couple of hours after having met Mr. Colizza on the eve of Billy & Theresa's wedding, he was able to share his heart and touch me emotionally for a lifetime. He saw me cry during Breeda's special interpretation of Elvis' Love Me Tender, which she had reworded for Bill and Tee. At the end of the very beautifully worded song, Mr. Colizza walked across the room, and right over to me. He told me not to ever change that about myself ... I then learned that crying was not a weakness but a quality. He taught me this when I was 30 yrs. old !! I have not and will never forget Mr. Colizza for that moment ... his kindness helped raise my self esteem a notch and also change my outlook on life. I am forever grateful for having met this remarkably sensitive man, even if only once ... because it was a moment I will continue to cherish forever ... To all who knew his generous heart, it was a blessing ... May you rest in peace Mr. Colizza ...
