PALMER, Francis (Bud) 83 - Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2010 with his family at his side, and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was born and raised in Wharncliffe, Ontario and maintained strong ties to that area for the rest of his life. After serving in WWII, he settled in Sault Ste. Marie to raise his family. An avid supporter of local hockey, Bud was a founding member of the Soo Pee Wee Arena Association, and served on its board of directors for 25 years. In 1992, he was inducted into the Sault Ste. Marie Hockey Hall of Fame in recognition of his service to children's hockey. Most of his working life was spent in the dairy business (Soo Dairy, and later Model Dairy) where he developed many lasting friendships over the years. His greatest pleasure in life was his family, and he loved the days he spent with his children and grandchildren at the family camp on Cummings Lake. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Hazel (Ansley) and Cecil Palmer, his first wife Maureen (Hagen), his sister Joyce Mundy, his brother-in-law Carl Mundy, and his son-in-law Gary Diotallevi. Bud is survived by his loving wife Sandra (Owen Bringleson), his sister Betty Moore (Joe) of Sarnia, his brother Bob Palmer (Barbara) of Sault Ste. Marie, his children Linda Palmer (Phil Fassett), Bill Palmer (Jean), John Palmer (Liz), Brian Palmer (Maddy Gingras), Janice Trainor (Joe) and Sandra's children Karen Bringleson (Claude Langis), Ted Bringleson (Cassandra Archibald) and Bob Bringleson (Aimee.) He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Lindsay Palmer, Riley Palmer, Lisa Palmer (Kellyn Chandler), Justine Palmer, Katelyn Palmer, Luke Palmer, Alex Palmer, Emily Trainor, Jessie Trainor, Derek Barber (Brittany Helps), Jordan Bringleson (Kyle Riseborough), Devon Bringleson, Meghan Bringleson, and a great-grandchild Cadence Riseborough. Family and friends may gather at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Service in the Chapel on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff of Birch Lane, second floor of the Davey Home for kindness and compassion beyond the call of duty. www.northwoodfuneral.com
