Uncle Ed, Wow! A great life to celebrate in so many ways. A great father, leader and friend. I think you actually taught me to fish. I learned to water ski behind your boat. I even learned about old photography and paint-by-numbers from pictures at your camp at Devil's lake. Both skills that inspired me to become an artist. I was always amused that you added the white stripes to the logs on the painting of your camp that Uncle Dennis did. You said you did it to match the new paint job of your "Second Home". That's how all of us who had the "Devil's Lake" experience felt. It was our "Second Home". You helped in making it feel like home. Your Daughter, Maurita, taught me how to ride a motor cycle. A skill that no doubt was handed down from you and I still enjoy today. I will always think of you fondly. You raised a fantastic family, (with undenied help from Aunt Rita), and I am proud to have known you. You deserve a rest after a well-lived, hard-earned life. God Bless. Glen McLeod XOXO

I was so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I feel very lucky to have seen him in Hilton Beach this past summer. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the funeral today as we are in Florida for the winter but I wish Rita and the family to know my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

The red speed boat that eventually turned pink due to the hot sun. Uncle Ed was always willing and able to take us kids water skiing and it was one of my fondest memories growing up and going over to the other side of the lake to visit. We never had a boat so it was always nice when we got to go for a spin in the red boat. It was an honor to be your god daughter and you will be sorely missed. Love Lori

Maureen and the entire Murphy family.... I want you to know that I am thinking of you at this sad time. It has brought to mind the many happy times I visited and was welcomed into your home as a young girl. I am praying for you all and know that God will give you strength. Love Charlotte Vallee

Uncle Ed was a special person who lived a great life and enjoyed it to the fullest. His tastes were simple and his garden was the envy of all his neighbours. I am almost positive he is planning his new garden now. I am sorry for you loss. Love Lori
