Obituary of Norman Joseph Richards

RICHARDS, Norman – Passed away peacefully at Cedarwood Lodge on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 94. Soulmate of the late Dorothy May Young. Brother of the late Kenneth Campbell (late Pearl), late Cyril Richards (late Christina), late Charles (Jean), late Everett Richards (late Joan) and late Effie Barnes (late George). Norm will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He and Dorothy loved the great outdoors. They could be found making friends with squirrels and chipmunks. Norm was commonly referred to as “The Butterfly Whisperer” as he made a sanctuary at his home to raise caterpillars to save the Monarch Butterfly. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Patrick McManus officiating. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to the staff at Cedarwood Lodge for their care and compassion shown to Norman.
