Obituary of Marija Potoczny

MARINOVICH-POTOCZNY, Marija “Mary Ann” -  Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the F.J. Davey Home at the age of 88. Loving wife of the late Walter Stanley Potoczny for 67 years.  Cherished mother of Cathy of Thompson, Manitoba, Walter (Andrée) of Ottawa, Carol (Rick) of Windsor and Mary Anne of Sault Ste. Marie. Kindest grandmother to Kristin (Mike), Erin (Shawn) and Justin (Stephanie) of Thompson, Nadia (Ben) of Ottawa and Zachary (Jessica) of Windsor. Great grandmother to Brie, Annabella, Nicholas, Brooks and Macgillvary of Thompson and Henry of Windsor. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Goldie Marinovich (late Mike) and the late Tonka Cuncic (late Joe) of Sault Ste. Marie.  Mary is aunt and great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the U.S. Special aunt to Judy Cameron and family, who spent hours visiting Mary during her last days. Honourable friend of John and Elaine Flint and grandchildren, who were so warm and caring to Mary. Mary was gentle in spirit and carried out her life filled with love, care and compassion. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass at Holy Family Parish at Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Boguslaw Jaroszek officiating.  Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all visitors, relatives and friends who stopped into see our mother over the past years. Sincere appreciation goes out to Dr. Richard Wytsma, long time family physician and Dr. Winyan Chung who cared for Mary in her final days.  Many thanks to all nurses, PSW’s and retirement home workers at Pathways and the staff on Second Birch of the Davey Home. The family will always remember the great care and love that you provided.
