To Joan and family. Marquise and I send our sincere condolences. So many wonderful memories of Bill with our Watertower Oldtimers family both on the ice and off. Bill" squawker" was a guy that could carry on three conversations at once and never miss a beat. For our after game lunch, Bill and I would be the first in line for the fish and we always made sure we had our share. Bill had a great memory and I am sure he is now telling everyone up there who scored a goal on him and how and when. Rest in Peace old buddy. Blessings to all. Our sympathies go to Joan and family. I initially met Bill in Steelworks Accounting at Algoma Steel. I again met him at the Algoma District Public School Board in his role of Trustee. I can recall spending many hours with Bill and the Director travelling by car to outlying schools in the district. Bill would. help pass the time by talking of many things. Bill's heart was always with students and he was fair in his actions and support. He will be missed.

It is with much sadness that my wife Susan and I read of Bill's recent passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Joan, his sons and grandchildren at this difficult time. Bill was a colleague and good friend during his 18 years as a school Board Trustee. During that time, Bill served as chair of collective bargaining and Budget Committees, chair and vice-chair of the Board and Board representative on the Special Education Advisory Committee. He was a very strong advocate for improving student learning, for maintaining strong public education and was a great supporter of high school sports. Bill never missed a Board meeting and could always be counted on when a trustee was needed on an Board committee or a Board function. On leaving the Board, Bill was honoured with the Bernadine Yackman Memorial Award bestowed provincially in recognition of long standing dedication and contribution for the Education of Children. We remember him for the many conversations, his warm and inviting smile and his desire to make a difference. You are missed already good friend.
