Peacefully in his sleep at F. J. Davey Home, on Sunday, June 6, 2021 in his 92nd year. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Rita (2017), his parents Joseph and Mary Heaney, his sisters Catherine Hamilton (Fred), Ellen Thompson (George), Geraldine Lavergne, and his brothers Jackie, Gerard, and Patrick. Proud father of Michael (Betty) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Margy Goldsborough (Ian) of Sault Ste. Marie, and Rob of Montreal. Fondly remembered by Jenny Gilbert and Nancy Chisholm. Loving grandfather of Ryan Heaney of Seattle, WA, Erika Edwards (T.J.) of Fort Benning, GA, Brittany Goldsborough van Raadshooven (Dick) of Sudbury and Kyla Gilbert of Montreal.  Great grandfather of Alana and Mikaela Edwards.

Dear brother of Fred (late Ann) Marion of Sault Ste. Marie and sisters-in-law Julia Heaney Schroeder (Helmuth) of Calgary, Darlene Heaney Telford (Bert) of Vernon, Mary Hunt (Jim) of Sault Ste. Marie, late Manny Camano (Dorothy) of Sarnia, Gordon Camano (Judy) of Sarnia and Kathy Camano.

Cherished uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews who treasure his support and guidance through the years. Peter loved family, fishing and sports, especially hockey and curling.  Together with Rita they opened their home to family and friends—those who were travelling across the country, those celebrating anniversaries and weddings, and he especially loved hosting family reunions, large and small.

Sure, ‘tis like the morn in Spring

In the lilt of Irish laughter

You can hear the angels sing.”
