Our thoughts are with you and we remember Val as a vibrant amazing woman. Derek has fond memories of Val from the time he was 15, working at Keith Barkley's. I had the pleasure of working on a committee with Val at Possability Homes and really enjoyed getting to know her and connect. Realizing at that time, I knew her kids and we were 'almost' neighbours. 'To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die.' Much love, Heady & Tiff~

Dear Karol, Derek, Marci, Greg and Erika,
I was so sad to hear about Val's passing. She was such a good friend to the LeMarquand family and continued the Barkley tradition of friendship and kindness after Keith and Norma passed. Val's love of family was evident each time I spoke with her. She was her mother's daughter, filled with goodness and always expecting to see goodness in others. In the years after her dad's passing (Keith passed away on the same day as my mom) , Val encouraged her mom to keep up the social connection to the LeMarquands. She kept in touch with Mel to ensure he had a friendly voice checking up on him. We had many enjoyable evenings at Giovanni's with Norma and we are so very grateful that Val encouraged her mom to maintain the connection. In so many respects, Val has kept alive the Barkley family values and character. She has passed these qualities along to her children. Marci - you were always so kind to my dad when you provided care to him. Thank you!
My God bless you and may your memory of your mom be a blessing to you all. I was blessed to know her.
Elaine Potter (LeMarquand)

My heart goes out to the entire family and I share your grief. Val has been my most cherished friend for the past 60 years. Inseparable in childhood , we took different paths as adults but we managed to keep in touch over the miles and could pick up in each other's lives as if we had spoken only yesterday. Her family was everything to her and I know that she has instilled that in all of you. Lean on each other and remember the good times because there were so many. We have lost a good one and we will miss her always

Karl and family, my deepest sympathies for your tremendous loss. Val was such a wonderful person, always positive and interested in what others were doing. I will miss her deeply especially at the retirees dinners.
Sorry, I will be unable to attend the celebration of life as I am required to isolate for a future medical procedure.

George and I are so saddened by Val’s passing. Our condolences to Karl and family, Marcy and family, Greg, Terri and kids and Derek and Marilyn and family. Our friendship with Val goes back many many years and even though we haven’t seen much of each other I always felt she was my special friend. There were long time periods between visits, but when I did talk to her it was like I had just talked to her the day before. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, taken way too soon. Hugs, George and Merri Lee North.

Valerie was the first person I met at Sault College outside of the interviewing team. She was so very warm and welcoming. She had a beautiful smile and just an amazing ability to make people feel comfortable. I remember her beautiful voice when we played at the Sault College Convocation ceremonies. She was always eager to help out her fellow coworkers and friends. She has also been a support for me and I hope I was a support for her during her battles with cancer, My heart aches for Karl and your family. She truly was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed.. Love, Gerry
