It was with such sadness I read the news of Dave's passing . I was so fortunate to learn alongside him on the Board of Durham College and the founding Board of UOIT now Ontario Tech. When I joined Grandview Children's Centre as CEO, Dave reached out and supported the Grandview with generosity and encouragement to grow the services to support Durham families.
Dave was a champion for all people and made important impacts in his work.
My sincere condolences to Sharon and the family

I was truly saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I have worked with him since 2004 at the WSIAT, and most recently, nearly every Friday morning in Ajax, until Covid suspended oral hearings. As well as being a dedicated and well-prepared colleague, I remember his great sense of humour. He is gone, but certainly not forgotten!

Dave Broadbent was a wonderful colleague at WSIAT with whom I often served when I was a Vice Chair. When I learned that Dave was with me on a case, it was always a pleasure because he was invariably well prepared, fair-minded, open to "hearing both sides", pragmatic in the result, and also, a most pleasant a person with whom to work. As a worker side Member, he had the respect of everyone--other adjudicators, and the parties.
After the hearing, he also was an easy-going, genial "gentleman", in the truest sense of that word, to have dinner with. His service to administrative justice and to the worker and employer communities will long be remembered. As we say in my faith, "may his memory be for a blessing!". Sincere condolences to his family.

So very sad to hear of the passing of Dave. He was the first financial secretary of Local 222 that I worked with at the union hall. He was a great labour leader and an equally great person. My deepest condolences to Sharon and the entire Broadbent family.
