Obituary of Robert Barnes

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario announce his peaceful passing at the FJ Davey Home, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the age of 84. Father of Jerrold (Heather), Allyn (late Donna), Steven (Kim), Catherine (Kevin) and David (Adrianna). Grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather of many.

Robert was born in Toronto, Ontario on November 27, 1939. Son of the late Floyd Barnes and the late Lillian (nee Wood). He is predeceased by his brother Floyd Jr. and sister Adelaide. 

Robert called many places “home” over his lifetime, but his heart resided in Sault Ste. Marie since the first time he visited. He spent many hours fishing in the beautiful North, as well as his former home in Waterloo.

He will be missed by many, including his family and church family from the Toronto, Kitchener/Waterloo, and Sault Ste. Marie districts. 

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the New Apostolic Church (135 Arden Street, Sault Ste. Marie) on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

We would like to thank the amazing staff of Apple 1 at the F.J. Davey Home for making the last year and a half of Robert’s life comfortable and happy. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
